Efficacy of Expert Teleconsultation on Prehospital Patient Safety Events for Critically Ill Infants and Children-A Multicenter, Simulation-based, Randomized Controlled Trial (Tele-EMS)
Efficacy of Expert Teleconsultation on Prehospital Patient Safety Events for Critically Ill Infants and Children-A Multicenter, Simulation-based, Randomized Controlled Trial (Tele-EMS)
Summary
We propose a multicenter, single-blinded, simulation-based randomized controlled trial (RCT) to test the efficacy of expert teleconsultations on safety events in prehospital emergencies. This study will examine how expert teleconsultation could improve prehospital pediatric patient safety, an EMSC research priority12 and a key goal of the EMS 2050 Agenda for Future Systems. 13 Engaging PECARN EMS affiliates would ensure adequate sample size recruitment while producing high-quality, generalizable results to guide future human efficacy trials, clinical application, and real-world implementation.
