Summary

Prospective multicenter non-inferiority phase-3 RCT comparing IV SDK to IV morphine for the treatment of acute pain in SCD. Applying for IND exemption similar to MoKA. Randomize SCD patients to Morphine or SDK for severe pain. Obtain consent and assent when necessary. Waiver of assent in children with pain scores representing severe pain (still up for discussion). Same procedure as MoKA - Day 1-3 text, day 7 person to person, month 1, 3, 6 person to person. Bio-repository wanted but will need a non-PCORI mechanism to cover sample analysis.
