Summary

Abdominal ultrasound (The Focused Assessment with Sonography for Trauma or "FAST") is used as a diagnostic test for the evaluation of intra-abdominal injury (IAI) in adults, and has been shown to decrease the need of CT scanning. The utility of the FAST examination in the evaluation of pediatric trauma patients is unclear.
